Facing the narrow road in Cabañeros National Park
Many love it enjoy the holidays with your hand on the wheel. Accompanied by a good car, they are guided in the style of Kavafis' poem about Ulysses: they hope to enjoy and learn more about the journey than the destination itself. For road and steering wheel lovers, I present a list of my 20 best road routes in Europe.
It is very likely that the list will grow or vary as we fill the tank with gasoline and squeeze the gas in other places we still don't know. Here we go:
The Carrick-a-Rede Suspension Bridge
From Larne to Portrush, Northern Ireland
We are on the A2, the most extreme road in Northern Ireland that through more than 70 follows the complicated orography of the most extreme Atlantic in the country. From our window and making the rigorous stops we will enjoy the cliffs of Antrim County. The Giant's Causeway is just a few steps away, as is the original Carrick a Rede suspension bridge.
From Inverness to Fort William, Scotland
We follow the huge Loch Ness of Scotland through the A82 road on its west flank. You may not be able to see the monster but the mountains of the Highlands and the impressive lake will not cease to appear as true mysteries of nature.
