Whenever someone asks me about my hometown, Alicante, I answer that it is not that he has many monuments to see, but he lives very well. The weather is exceptional, you eat quite well and we have kilometers of beautiful coastline and mountains in the province. For me it is more than enough and I am happy when I return from a trip and I meet my land and my people.
One of the natural attractions that acts as an important claim, both for visitors and for locals, is the Tabarca Island, the only one inhabited in the Valencian Community.
It is one of the best weekend excursions you can do in the province of Alicante. Here you have a small guide to enjoy it to the fullest.
How to get to the island of Tabarca
Tabarca It is a few miles from the Alicante coast. To get there, unless you have your own boat, it is best to take any of those that leave the two closest ports to the island: Alicante and Santa Pola.
From Alicante large ships that come and come crowded in summer come out. The journey usually takes about 45 minutes and the price for each section is 18 euros per person. There are several established departure shifts in the morning and return in the afternoon.
From the port of Santa Pola You will find cheaper options and several small boats will take you for 10 euros at almost any time of the day. The price for the residents of the island is half and that is how I traveled, a couple of weeks ago, because we went to spend a couple of days at the house of a friend who has a house there.
